The YMCA Youth Basketball Program is designed to give young athletes a fun, positive, and encouraging environment to learn and grow their basketball skills. Players will develop the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and teamwork while building confidence, making new friends, and developing a love for the game.

Whether your child is picking up a basketball for the first time or looking to build on the skills they already have, the Y provides an environment where every player gets the opportunity to learn, play, and improve.

We’re teaming up with the Wisconsin Herd & Milwaukee Bucks!

We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Wisconsin Herd and Milwaukee Bucks!

As part of the partnership, every participant will receive:

-A reversible Wisconsin Herd/Milwaukee Bucks-branded jersey
-A ticket voucher to a regular-season Wisconsin Herd game

It’s a great opportunity for our young athletes to experience basketball both on the court and at the professional level!

Small team sizes mean more time on the court and more opportunities for coaches to work with each athlete.

Age-Appropriate Equipment
We use age-appropriate ball sizes and adjustable hoop heights to help players learn the game at the appropriate level.

Playing with classmates and friends makes basketball more fun and helps create a positive team experience.

Volunteer Coaches Needed!

Great programs start with great coaches!

Our youth basketball program relies on dedicated volunteer coaches who want to help young athletes learn and enjoy the game. You don’t need to be a basketball expert—we provide practice plans, resources, and support to help you have a successful season through our new platform, TeamSnap One.

Volunteer coaches receive:

• A complimentary coach shirt
• Small team sizes
• The opportunity to select your team’s practice day and time
• Access to TeamSnap One for team communication, scheduling, and easy-to-follow practice plans
• 50% off a future YMCA Sports program

Program Structure

Games: Saturdays at the Janesville YMCA
Practices: Primarily held at the Janesville YMCA, with the possibility of offering a Milton practice option based on participant and coach needs.

Practice Times

Practices will be held once per week in the JP Cullen Gym on:

• Tuesday at 5:15 PM, 6:10 PM, or 7:05 PM
• Wednesday at 5:15 PM, 6:10 PM, or 7:05 PM
• Thursday at 5:15 PM, 6:10 PM, or 7:05 PM

The volunteer coach will select their team’s practice day and time.

Holiday Schedule: There will be no practices or games during Thanksgiving week, November 23–28.
