Welcome to the 135 Community Team hub — your home base for shaping what’s next at the YMCA of Northern Rock County as we count down to 135 years in 2027.
Each month, you’ll join one in-person meeting, complete a simple Ask, and share feedback that helps guide improvements at the Janesville and Milton Ys.
No membership required. No cost. Flexible to your schedule. You can join the team any time in 2026.
Next meeting: Saturday, August 1, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Parker Y in Milton
No membership required. No cost to participate. Asks are flexible to your schedule. You can join the team any time throughout 2026.
Our 135 design team has been hard at work reviewing what our current spaces offer. This month, they have requested your help. How do other YMCAs approach space, flow, and access? What can we learn from them?
The Ask
Check out a Y that is not part of Northern Rock County — virtually or in person, whichever fits your schedule. There’s no preference between the two options, and no expectation either way.
Option 1 — Virtual Tour: Watch a short video tour of another YMCA facility below and provide feedback. View one or view all. Videos are less than five minutes.
- Southern Saratoga YMCA — a recently renovated, multi-generational community hub
- West Side YMCA — a large, multi-floor urban facility
- J.M. Tull–Gwinnett Family YMCA — an aerial tour of the full facility grounds
Option 2 — In-Person Tour: Reach out to a nearby Y and ask for a tour. Facilities in Monroe, Watertown, Beloit, Madison, and the surrounding areas are happy to accommodate. (Not expected — but bonus points if you do!) You can find a location using the “Find Your Y” tool at ymca.org/find-your-y.
As you watch or tour, consider these questions and report back:
- How does the space flow — is it easy to move through, or does it feel disjointed?
- How accessible is the facility — walk-up access, ground-floor programming, and sightlines from the entrance?
- What does the facility offer the people inside it that stood out to you?
BONUS — If you complete an in-person tour, let us know which Y you visited and who hosted you so we can send a thank you note.
Can’t get to a virtual or in-person tour this month? That’s okay — even a few sentences based on what you already know about other Ys or a quick web search for a nearby facility are valuable to us.
Submit your feedback on the form below by August 1.
135 Project Updates
We’ll keep this section current with news, but also so you can see how feedback connects to action with decision-makers.
What we heard
We’ll post key takeaways here after the March 7 meeting.
